Truly iconic. So much so that I'm just gonna drop the video upfront, because this would be my submission for "things you'd like the whole world to witness At Least Once" – BUT if you're sensitive to flashing (especially red/blue) lights, check out the audio-only version instead!

- 鲛人之歌, 15 Mar: Realising that this was written and produced by Sa Dingding (of 左手指月 fame) explains pretty much everything about it, really. I'm prepared to go mildly feral if we ever do see this live…
- 睡个好觉, 21 Mar: …current holder of the Most Very Pop Song he's ever released? XD at least in recent memory. 月亮挂好 is such an adorable lyric, as is all the unnecessary buttons on that blouse. Also, incredibly upbeat for a song about getting a good night's sleep (to quote multiple Weibo comments, how are we supposed to sleep after listening to this??)

On the theme of Dalabengba – a set of songs that fall into the same boxes in my head for different reasons:
- The "song cast: Zhou Shen, Zhou Shen, Zhou Shen, and also Zhou Shen" box: 卡布叻船长 aka Captain Kabule (卡布叻 being his nickname from his pre-debut livestreaming era), because apparently all the dragons in his world Do Opera. Bonus trivia – this song guest stars Luo Tianyi, aka one of the two Vocaloids from the original Dalabengba. Full circle!
- The "improbable-tier-difficulty performance of well-known 二次元 fandom songs that subsequently also went viral" box: unravel of Tokyo Ghoul fame, also affectionately known as 洗海带 due to the opening 教えてよ line. Doubly notable for the fact that the backing for this performance was specifically created by the original artist TK (because an instrumental didn't already exist), which is pretty neat!
- The "oh my god Zhou Shen dancing??" box: this very-liable-to-get-stuck-in-your-head performance of the Chuang 2021 theme song, aka literal proof of the fact that you can dance while still doing amazing vocals in six languages (yes, 6, including Russian and Ukranian lyrics that he translated himself). Also, you can just about see the improvement in his dancing since Dalabengba one year on (literally – I just noticed this performance aired 27 March last year while writing, so yay anniversary on both!)

Highlight of the week:
- Multi-sub version of the intro video from his Baidu page! Recommended viewing for a pretty great overview of his singing journey from pre-debut up to end-2020 (opening with Dalabengba, appropriately enough), bonus feels, plus some of his personal history and beliefs.

天赐-specific things:
- Episode 2 performance: 算你狠 duet with Liang Long – another one for the [laughs musically] performance list (the first two entries being 笑之歌 with Gong Linna and 不老的爸爸), [pulls off improbably high notes while sitting down] list (see also: Got It)
and of course the [raps with proper pronunciation] l- /gets punted out the window - EP 2 studio vlog, which was already gonna be interesting by definition because of how uncharacteristically… lackadaisical?… 算你狠 is compared to his usual performances. Anyway 幸苦了 on the rap part!! And however late this recording was that he'd actually complain of being sleepy. Also the whole 哈哈哈 not 嘎嘎嘎 part LOL I love mentor!ZS as much as the next person, but also 10/10 at him being an unrepentant junior, verbal shitposting/arm-grabbing laughter and all. Definitely wouldn't mind seeing them work together again in the future!
- EP 2 Zhou Shen cut including extras, thank you ZJSTV for knowing what I want (and have the attention span for right now!!). 新晋的气氛担当 indeed XD highlights: (a) his very loud enthusiasm at Liang Long, (b) is that a dragon?? aka his art skills strike again, (c) "具体哪几位" *claps* "cut!", (d) the whole 抽签 skit after the performance, (e) "你主动帮我道个歉!!"

Other things:
- 春分 aka spring equinox well-wishes! Standing egg included for good luck. (English subbed version here 🥚)

- This week-by-week visualisation of the 2021 top 10 OST charts, which satisfies both the data nerd and Zhou Shen fan in me – all the orange-bar ones are his songs (which finishes at 8 of 10 including a straight run of #1-#6 holy shit, and 悬崖之上 is really just chilling up there at #1 permanently)
- Upcoming in May, apparently: appearance with Bai Yu and several others on 开始推理吧:11号公寓? I haven't really looked into this either.

<3 indeed! Not the first song for me – that one goes to 大鱼, but definitely one of the memorable earliest moments of just going "wha?????" at the screen XD
