Challenge #6
In your own space, Create something. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.Decided to put those subscriptions to fic prompt comms to use by doing a Guardian drabble for
100words, linked below!
A lot of what I write is in the several-hundred-words range by default, but it's been a long while since I really restricted myself to exactly 100 words so this was a nice challenge. I'm definitely out of practice at sticking to a particular word count – this idea kept wanting to expand into the 200-word range even while I was beating it down with a mallet. Behave, you gremlin.
(Admittedly I also had a more recent run of writing one-tweet-length (i.e. 280 character) fics during my stint in
The Promised Neverland fandom, but I'd argue writing that sort of micro-fic is its own kind of beast entirely.
And come to think of it, the last time I did drabbles regularly was on
100wordstories when I was exploring around LJ, so it's nice to come full circle I guess? Definitely an instructive experience, judging by how I do semi-often get comments about how much story and/or worldbuilding I've managed to cram into the little amount of fic real estate I use.)
