Decided to put those subscriptions to fic prompt comms to use by doing a Guardian drabble for

A lot of what I write is in the several-hundred-words range by default, but it's been a long while since I really restricted myself to exactly 100 words so this was a nice challenge. I'm definitely out of practice at sticking to a particular word count – this idea kept wanting to expand into the 200-word range even while I was beating it down with a mallet. Behave, you gremlin.
(Admittedly I also had a more recent run of writing one-tweet-length (i.e. 280 character) fics during my stint in The Promised Neverland fandom, but I'd argue writing that sort of micro-fic is its own kind of beast entirely.

Absolutely, yeah. It's hard to realise how short 100 words actually is until you start writing and very soon hit the "oh huh that's too many words already" wall haha.
