presumenothingWhich was always bound to happen once I finished the show, given… pretty much everything about it, but in typical brain-pinball fashion this also means the neurons have gotten overexcited and zoomed off in too many directions at once. Not great for actually finishing anything, tbh, but hopefully recording bits of it down will straighten things out at least.
Also that "maybe" is technically inaccurate since I've already posted these two ficlets of Murderbot AU and literal-spirit-of-the-city!ZYL respectively, the further adventures of which are also *gestures vaguely* somewhere in this brainsoup.

Shen Wei lowers his head, lets the smile flicker there and gone again. "You're making this one up. I don't see how a shoestring could ever have become pertinent to solving a case."
"Ye of little faith!" declaims Zhao Yunlan, brandishing his lollipop with a grin that suggests he'd caught the flash of amusement (and knew that Shen Wei meant for him to see it, that Shen Wei would catch this too and know what it meant, so on and so forth.)

Shen Wei pushes the bowl of egg across the counter (raw with a pair of chopsticks set on top; Zhao Yunlan cannot be trusted to season anything but at least beating them is a mere application of violence and hence disaster-proof). "I merely relocated them amidst the mess of your quarters. Consider it a lesson in the importance of tidiness, if anything."
The answering grin is as unrepentant as ever. "Ah, that one's a lost cause, you ought to know."
And he does know, more's the pity. Never mind the fact that he can only have been encouraging this behaviour with how reliably he picks up after the chaos tornado that is Zhao Yunlan’s existence.

"Changcheng. Do you still have your old notebooks?"
"My–? Y-yes," he answered, startled into stuttering even the short answer like he hasn’t since his early days at the SID. "They’re all on my bookshelves at home."
Chu-ge nodded gruffly. "You ought to write some of them up. We’ve got case histories in the library already, but those damned newbies are too used to peacetime."
